Goutte d'Or, meaning "drop of gold", takes its name from the flint stones scattered across the soil, golden in shape and colour. The first Premier Cru you reach leaving Meursault towards Puligny-Montrachet. Rich and powerful on the nose, with white peach, almond and acacia flower, then a creamy, mineral-driven palate that stays with you. Thomas Jefferson's favourite Meursault, and easy to see why.
